![]() The actual performance was really good, this was my first book of his and I was very impressed and look forward to hearing more from him in the future but not book 2 of this. ![]() There were some good bits like his work as a theif that seemed very inspired by Oliver and Lies of Locke Lamora but didn't feel derivative. The premise of telling his life story to "get the truth out" is redundant too because he starts telling someone who he should never meet again then they part ways mid story only to just happen to cross paths and pick up again. ![]() I can't overstate how dissatisfied I am with this, I was expecting a new story inspired by Pat's work with a few nods to the original inspiration, what I got was basically plagiarism! Ari feels like Kvothe's little brother, trying to be like him but not having any of the charm or wit that made Kvothe so memorable. If you haven't then do it first or this story will spoil a lot of it. If you have read Name of the Wind don't bother, you already know 80% of this and in a better form.
